Real Talks - Making Headlines: The Power of PR

Making Headlines: The Power of PR

They say everyone has a story to tell. Successful publicity is knowing both what that story is, and the best way to tell it.

This August, Visit Sunshine Coast's Real Talks series is taking a deep dive into media and PR with the hotly anticipated panel 'Making Headlines: The Power of PR'. This event will bring together some of Queensland's leading travel publicists, editors and producers to discuss everything from what media are looking for in a good travel story to how to pitch your news to make headlines.

The panel includes Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) Consumer PR Leader Shelley Winkel, who has more than 25 years' experience working in PR and Corporate Communications for the tourism industry. She will be joined by Managing Editor of Escape Kelli Armstrong, who commissions all of the brand's cover and feature stories and is always on the lookout for unique travel story angles. Rounding up the panel is Television Producer Amy Field, who contributes to the ongoing production of the Seven network's much-loved travel and lifestyle programs, Weekender and Creek to Coast.

Join us and hear first-hand how to find your story hook and nail the perfect PR pitch, what editors are looking for in a travel story, tips on hosting a newsworthy media famil and what makes great television.

The panel will be chaired by VSC's own Peter Hook, and will finish by opening up to the floor giving you the chance to ask your own questions.
